The Sheffield Antiques Quarter
On the south side of Sheffield along the A621 is a unique cluster of businesses which have come to be known as The Sheffield Antiques Quarter.
With 6 antique centres and nearly 20 independent shops this vibrant area has something for everyone. If your tastes are for authentic period antiques, affordable traditional furniture, the minimalism of the retro 1960/70s, or the current trend of painted furniture you will find it here.
If you prefer to browse amongst the vintage clothing and trinkets, or the art and literary world; rummage through the architectural and reclamation yards or peruse the military memorabilia in the specialist shops, you’ll be well catered for within the Quarter.
There are over 150 dealers with items ranging from fine silver, porcelain and jewellery to curios, collectables, bric-a-brac and all points in-between. You can even organise your vintage wedding, buy a genuine juke box, visit an auction house or treat yourself to a snack or a slap-up meal.
There are numerous cafés within the Quarter serving excellent food, an award winning delicatessen and coffee shop, and for those who’d prefer something stronger, a recently refurbished Victorian pub serving good food, fine ales and 100 different whiskies!
The Quarter takes in Abbeydale Road, Broadfield Road, parts of London Road and Queens Road and is easily traversed on foot. There is a pleasant riverside walk alongside The Sheaf and so much to do and see that it’s easy to spend an entire day in this buzzing, cosmopolitan area. A 10 minute drive will take you out into the delights of Derbyshire and the Peak District which should round off your day nicely.
